Introduction

Atractor has a large project that consists of presenting the tiles which exist in a place, classified according to the symmetry of the patterns or friezes in which they appear. To do this, powerful tools were created using the Mathematica program and a GPS camera was used. These tools allow the semi-automatic processing of large amounts of data, directly from the photos taken. They were applied to the photos taken in Ovar, a city of medium size and with a great concentration of tiles. But they can later be applied to other places, if the corresponding photographs are available; some examples, of increasing size, can be Aveiro, Coimbra, Porto, Lisbon ...
